Ultimate Truffle Experience to Millthorpe/Orange, NSW
As part of Urban Graze Food Tours, Urban Graze Cooking School is offering an opportunity to visit Millthorpe and Orange, NSW for an indulgent truffle weekend. Few people know that exquisite truffles can be grown right here in Australia. The hazelnut or oak trees are inoculated with the truffle spore in Tasmania and then sent to select parts of Australia.
Millthorpe is located about 15 minutes from the centre of Orange and is a quaint little town oozing with old world charm and character. The people living in the Orange region are true foodies and are extremely friendly. There are some fantastic restaurants scattered throughout the area including a few with Sydney Morning Herald Chef Hats. Our experiences of Orange proves that you do not have to be located in a big city to offer great food and wine.
As part of our trip you will discover what very few people in the world have experienced; going truffle hunting with the dogs. Unfortunately it’s not finders-keepers at $2000 kg, however we will be using their truffles for the four course dinner that Urban Graze will cook and serve you on the Saturday night. The menu will also feature the produce from Orange. Truffles will also be for sale if you wish to take one home with you. We will provide you with lots of ideas on ways to prepare and use them to maximise your investment.
High Tea on the Sunday will also be provided at Urban Graze's new cooking school located in the new Millthorpe Motel opening in June/July 2010.
This tour is very seasonal in the months of June, July and August only.
Included in the package:
- Self drive package.
- Accommodation is based on twin share only for 2 nights at the Millthorpe Motel with continental breakfast included.
- A truffle hunt with the use of specialty trained dogs on the Saturday morning which will go for a few hours. Gourmet Urban Graze wood fired oven picnic at the trufferie for lunch will be provided for each guest after the truffle hunt. Saturday afternoon is free time to check out the town and some wineries.
- A four course truffle dinner will commence on the Saturday night with each course containing local black truffles with the best local wines being matched to each course created by the team from Urban Graze.
- High Tea at 11am on Sunday at the new Urban Graze Cooking School Millthorpe. Sit and relax as Urban Graze creates a superb selection of petite sweet and savoury morsels.
*Prices are based on twin share accommodation. An additional $60 per person is required for single bookings and these places are limited to 1 single person per tour. Please check with us with your chosen date whether a single place is available.

You may also choose to upgrade your booking for an additional $60 per person for the 2 nights to the luxury loft rooms. 2 rooms available per tour.
