
Joel Owen
Joel Owen grew up in the Hills District of Sydney and has been involved in the hospitality industry for over 26 years, including cooking, food manufacturing and management in some of the best restaurants and bars around the world including Aria, Bel Mondo, Otto, Cargo Bar and Bathers' Pavilion.
Joel specialises in ethnic styles of cooking including Asian foods.
Both Joel and Tarrah have also owned a specialty produce company in Ontario, Canada, supplying some of the best restaurants in Toronto and the Niagara region. They quickly established themselves as the number one fresh produce supplier of these areas and were lucky enough to be able to pick and choose the best clients.
Joel has gained a wealth of knowledge within the food industry especially with his travels around the world and has been inspired to bring this knowledge for the other foodies to enjoy.
Tarrah Laidman
Canadian born Tarrah Laidman has been cooking and baking professionally for 24 years. Growing up in wine-country Ontario, Tarrah has experienced the thrill of growing vegetables, fruit farming, wine production and making breads by hand. Her passion for food has led her to various positions across Canada and Australia as a chef, pastry chef and a hospitality instructor.
Tarrah is most comfortable when cooking French and Italian style foods. Using high quality ingredients found locally makes this task so much simpler. She also instructs the dessert classes and loves cheese.
